Why Carolina won't make the CWS

Maybe Holbrook won't be coaching 3rd base this year. That will be one positive of him taking the HC duties.

I assume that's a joke right? Holbrook was outstanding coaching 3rd base.

  • Let me be clear..... The only thing that could keep us from Omaha this year is a massive tornado that shreds the city and stadium. Otherwise, back home in Omaha. Believe it!

  • I am truly looking forward to the coming season. With the change at the top and all the missing parts it is going to be a really different season for us as observers. It has been a long time since we will have been through a transitional season. I'm anxious to see how these coaches and student atheletes learn to be a team with a stated goal. It will be fun to watch the maturation take place before our eyes.

  • Though it does raise some valid questions, I feel that Montgomery and Holmes are both more than capable of being good Friday starters! And Webb has proven he can be a quality late inning guy when needed,I think Carolina is goin to be ok their! And as for run support, We have a strong line up returning, with Griener, Dantzler, Pankake, and Martin, and great speed on the base with Tanner English, I think also Bright and Verguson gives quality Depth and Expierence also! And as for Holbrook, he is a clone of Ray Tanner, their has been a ton of first year coaches in sports to be Successful, I am sure that Tanner has taught him well! And as for not many teams have made it back to Omaha Four straight years, I guess the same can be said how many teams have repeated as National Champions, and how many have made it to to the Championship game again after that! I understand what he is saying, and am not saying that Carolina will bet back to Omaha, all I am saying is their is no reason why we should expect to get back! Go Cocks!

Don't understand the down voting. Nothing in the article is false, getting to Omaha is VERY SPECIAL deal. We are very talented, but lost a ton of talent and even more leadership. I believe we can certainly make Omaha!

I have no problem with the article and all of the points are valid. I would have gone with a title more along the lines of Obstacles to Returning to Omaha, though, knowing the thin skin of most fans.

Did you watch the games? Obviously not. A loss to Clemson and also Florida(I believe) could be directly contributed to him sending runners when they were dead ducks. That's just the ones I can specifically remember, there were several other times he did this.

It's his style, he's aggressive on the base paths, which also lead to other examples of us winning thanks to this. When you're aggressive, obviously, it's going to lead to some bad things, but I welcome the approach.

I bet there are a lot of games where his aggresive base running has won us some games. Toman was the same way. I think it is the way the head coach wanted it done. Believe me I hate having a guy thrown out at the plate or on the bases but that is just the way we play. And I am betting we are more aggressive this year.

As for VOR he does not need me to defend him but he is at every game and I am willing to be he knows more about South Carolina baseball than 99% of the fans on this board.

    http://southcarolina.247sports.com/Article/Seven-reasons-the-Gamecocks-will-not-make-it-back-to-Omaha-112035

Today, with seven days before the start of the preseason, we take a look at some of the things that could keep the Gamecocks from making it back to Omaha.

Interesting article. You bring up some good points. I have some of the same concerns. Look forward to seeing who steps up in the concern areas so that we get back to Omaha which I think we will.
