Why no Eric Payne?

  • Bright looks average and Payne balled...weird

  • Makes no sense. Pinch hitting Roth was a terrible call also.

  • I bet he leads off in the ninth.

That would almost be unfair to him.

    Nope....unexplainable!!

  • Hope Ray gets asked about this in presser. Ray has done a great job with this team but I just don't understand the constant juggling of the DH position. Many times after someone has had some success in the previous game, i.e. Payne.

  • It's been this way for a while now -- Payne hits against left-handers, Bright against right-handers. I'm sure the numbers say why. We don't have access to those numbers. Bright has come through with a lot of big hits this season. He didn't tonight and neither did anyone else.

It's not so much Connor getting the start. It's more the question of why don't you pinch hit for him when he clearly struggled tonight.

I agree. Coach has pushed a lot of the correct buttons over the last several years, it's not really fair to question him he knows his team much better than we ever could. The bottom line is holmes was not sharp and paid the price for it. As a team we did not take advantage of runners being in scoring position. We lost a hard fought, close to to 1 run game. Our young kids need to regroup go out and beat kent tomorrow. If we do that I believe we can pull this out

    Thank you!

It would not have mattered who we had in there. That is a first rounder that was dealing. He is a tremendous talent, and pitched the game of his life.

As for Roth hitting, he is a senior, and the leader of this team. He is a guy who, if was a regular starter at 1st, would be a .300 hitter with 10-12 bombs. He is not going to watch good pitches go by, and is going to get good hacks in. He is aggressive, and that is all you can ask for.

Sometimes you have to give the other team credit. Posts like this make us sound like sore losers. We played very well, and Tyler Webb was brilliant. Sometimes the other guy just outplays you, and that is what happened. My hats off to Arky. There was an awful lot of pressure on them, and they had only a 1-run lead. They came through, and made a couple more plays.

They just beat us. We didn't get out-coached. Ray didn't have the wrong guy at DH. And Roth PH'ing was not the difference in the game. Their pitchers beat us. They were special, and would have beaten anyone in the country last night. They had Christian Walker looking bad at times last night, and that is very, very, very difficult to do. I give credit to arky.
