  • LB is in top two tomm nite in the home run derby. He hit the ball hard this year people, real hard. But to many times it just ended up right at someone.

He will hit IMO well into the .300's next year. Take that to the bank.

CofC's Aldrich is obviously the favorite since he won it last year...

Why don't they hold this home run derby in a smaller park, like Yellowstone maybe?

Yes, it is large. Too large. Andy Demetra tweeted afterwards that they should move the fence in 10ft and put a moat there for 3 reasons. a) to help the run production b) to provide a new home for the beach balls c) and to prevent the idiots from running on to the field. Saddest part is, everythig he said is true. haha

Back to baseball, as I was sitting there that Thursday morning half asleep against Kent, all I kept saying was damn he crushed that ball. That was a bomb in that stadium.

He's right about the beach balls. Seeing them batted around in the bleachers is part of the CWS tradition but sadly, it's getting ruined. It was out of hand this year and when it starts interfering with the game it needs to stop.
I don't know how they can curtail it but it needs to be toned down next year.

The balls and the people have never bothered me at the CWS. For the most part the beach balls have always been kept in the stands and off the field.

This year we had more delays because of the balls. And the people on the field was completely out of control.

I still don't have a big problem with the balls. Just try to make those in the outfield understand that if they want that tradition to continue the delays have to stop. If they can't control them a little better then it will have to stop.

As for the people. Just taze(sp) them as soon as they hit the field and drag them off. Maybe that will make others think about it before they jump that fence.

Postal you're spot on as usual. If the first two or three that jump over get a good dose of electricity and wet themselves on the field the other morons will think long and hard. The 7th inning stretch was ridiculous. I think I counted 7 idiots that jumped in that half inning. The beach ball blow out is annoying too. The tradition of batting them around is fine but don't dump 40+ out on the field. I will say the guy with the ball on the fishing line was pretty darn funny.

I'd also like to vote that whoever starts the wave gets tazed...repeatedly.

Upvote on the wave. Let it go. Pet rocks and the Love Boat were all the rage when the wave was cool. Now its just annoying.
There is nothing worse than being in a stadium at. Crucial part of the game and some dumbass starts standing up and yelling "Wooooooooo" in an effort to get the wave going. Sit down retard there's a ball game going on.

    LOL

I think he has a shot. That ball he hit out in the bleachers was smashed. You just don't realize how hard you have to hit a ball to just get it out of there. To clear the bullpen was a shot.

here is an article on the HR derby. A few rule changes.

  • What channel is this being shown on? All I can find on the net seems to be a tape delay for the 7th. Why the heck would you tape delay a live event for 4 days? I mean there's around 30+ sports channels plus ABC, NBC, and CBS. No one wanted to pick this up live? They'll put the kids spelling bee on ESPN (no disrespect to pint size spell masters), but not a once a year "cool" college event. grumble

  • its definitaly only on tape delay. I think the only way to keep up with it is the home run derby twitter feed...

    scottusc03

  • I agree should be aired live! Last year we sat
out in outfield for a few non Carolina games .
Beach balls were awful and most people out their are college drunk kids . Couldn't pay me to sit out their again! Watch the games and forget the wave!
