our regional totally sucks

  • why in the world would they put two teams we've just been played in the past two years on a national stage? also we've already played clemson three times this year..very poorly planned.

  • Great draw IMO Florida got a much tougher bracket!

    Regional made for ESPN

  • I agree. I havent seen a regional that is near as tough as ours. UVA has a tough one with oky and app state. of course we match up with them in the supers

Florida's regional is tougher than ours. Very glad we don't have GT coming here.

Yes even easier than last year's. Maybe everyone outside of the ACC should just lay down one year so the ACC can win a NC and then this crap we see every year might end.

  • II think we got a breeze regional. Clemson is a marginal 2 seed at best. I look at it like we have 2 3 seeds and a 4: really good draw

    Kyle4usc

  • Their regional is a joke. If UNC doesnt win they should be relegated to D2. The big 10 also seems the have taken advantage of all of their crying. The 5th seeded spartans get in.

  • we were just paired with clemson last year. someone on the committe is trying to give clemson every opportunity to keep us at home. i don't think espn has anything to do with it. unfortunately the law of averages says they will do it eventually. our pitching and hitting is very suspect right now.

I agree. If Clemson hadn't won a few in the acc tournament I thought they may be a 3 seed.

I'm not going to disagree with your initial post, but as I detailed in a post late last night, this was put together as a Regional to put on television. I've got that from a very, very good source.

Clemson is definitely an interesting team. They played pretty well when they took 2 of 3 from FSU to end the season. They did not play so well in the ACC Tourney.

I posted that was going to happen. Now look at who they are paired with in the Super - Arizona. UA has to come all the way across the country to Hole de Crappelle. Last year Fullerton had to do that. It is absolute Horse**** what these guys get away with every year.

  • I don't like Clemson in our regional either for the simple fact that I never enjoy watching us play them. I love watching us beat them, but until the final out the games can be tortuous due to the stakes involved. That is why I was glad UCONN beat them.

That being said, we should win the regional and I expect we will

you are whining like you are scared of clemson.... it's not clemson I would worry about, however coastal is down as well and if you get right down to it we are down too. just cross the lines and battle

  • Nice how 4 of the teams in our regional and the Charlottesville regional are teams we eliminated the last 2 years...I dont understand why they love making so many rematches. I could understand putting Coastal in our regional because we havent played them the this year. Clemson's record is not deserving of a #2 seed IMO. Kentucky has the resume for a #1 seed. Miami hosting is a joke. They have a 36-21 record, the same conference record as Clemson (16-14). That is a #2 or #3 seed resume in my book. The committee looks like they put too much emphasis on a scewed RPI that is a joke. UNC's regional is a joke. They will not match them up with an SEC team because they are scared they will be eliminated before Omaha. Larry Gallo once again protects his Holes and gives them the crappiest teams in their regional.

We have one of the easiest regionals in the tourney. If Clemson hadn't beaten FSU 3 out of 4 at the end of the year they would have been a 3 seed. They lost 5 of their last 6 and only scored more than 2 runs one time during that stretch.

Coastal is not the same team they have been the last few years. They lost a ton of games before their Big South conference schedule started to some very mediocre teams.

Can either one of them beat us? Of course. However, it is not a very difficult regional and is probably one of the easier ones we have had in the last few years.

  • with all due respect whittle howis our regional so great for espn? other than our being defending champs, a national audience isn't interested in coastal and clemson. i must be missing something. to continue my original post, why pair us with virginia? we just played them. someon on that committee has a huge grudge. even a hamster could see that.

I don't really have the answer for that. I was told that the ESPN crew is going to go with the angle that Clemson is going to try to derail their archrival's bid for a third straight national title. I don't know why they believe this Regional will draw a national audience, but they do. I was told late Sunday night (posted and push-pinned above) that this was one option the committee was thinking about -- putting together a made-for-TV Regional with South Carolina and Clemson with that pitch behind it. That's what they did, so, yes, TV did play a role in this decision.

I don't think the committee has a grudge against anyone or anything. Maybe I'm oblivious.

If you read twitter, Perfect Game, Baseball America, or any other national media outlet the fact that South Carolina and clemson are in the same regional is headline news. They are all calling it a great opportunity for college baseball to showcase a game betweet two of the best rivals in the game. Not just South Carolina and clemson but college baseball. So I believe there is some interest nationally in this matchup.

I really think the story in Omaha 2 years ago with the two teams really showed the nation what this rivalry is all about. It will go to a next level this weekend.

Of course both teams have to win. And I still don't understand the 4:00 start times if this is the game they wanted to showcase.

i disagree. for a baseball fan in the state of south carolina the only way they could have done better would be to have included charleston as the 4 seed - but that would have made the regional a little too stiff. i love it. usc/clemson (if it happens) in the post season takes the regional to whole different level.

  • I'm not seeing how this is so great for baseball fans. Only one team can advance from SC, and that's the way they want it. It would have been just a little too obvious to put cofc in there too.
