Just a guess, but I imagine 'cause we don't know how tomorrow & Sunday are gonna play out so they didn't wanna use the pen more than necessary tonight. Price has probably gone more than he should have recently. Plus, too, w/a road series, limited on # we can carry. Think we had to leave a pitcher or two behind & we're already down two w/injury & suspension. Again, just a guess!

He hasn't thrown more than 100 pitches in a month. He will be fine.

I'm guessing someone didn't have a good count. While I'm sure Tanner wouldn't want to tax the bullpen on Friday if he didnt have to...having your #1 throw over 130 pitches with a 9 run lead = didnt have to. I don't get that.

Both times he got touched up last night was after 2 quick outs. He gets that third out and his pitch count goes way down. He has had problems getting the 3rd out other times this year.

Like I've said before, an off night for Roth is a good night for just about anyone else. It all boils down to location, and he's had a lot of trouble locating his change-up. The change is such a "feel" pitch that it's hard to know exactly why something has changed. Maybe he's been working out hard and he's just a little stronger now. It's a mystery. Nevertheless, he's still the guy I want out there in a tight spot.

As far as the pitch count goes, that was our first game all year that would make Boyd's pitch count watch. When Cooper was here, we lived on that list. I have always said the number is less important that the pitcher. Cooper could handle it. Roth can handle it too, but I'd rather see it in a tight game than a blowout.

Dude I wasn't jumping you just making a point. I tend to agree that 137 pitches is a bit much but given the fact that he hasn't gone deep into a game in some time I don't think it's THAT bad. I respect your opinions as much as anyone not named Postal or USCANDY:). Just offering another perspective.
