Is SC usually this stacked in WBB?

  • Bored at work and found Hoopgurlz WBB recruiting site on ESPN. The state of SC has a lot of players ranked in the coming years, is it always like this or just a good run?

    2011
Aleighsa Welch 6'2 F from Goose Creek #88 overall (USC signed her obviously)
    2012
Xylina McDaniel 6'2 F from Spring Valley #25 overall (UNC)
Khadijah Sessions 5'9 PG from Myrtle Beach #40 overall (USC)
N'Dea Bryant 6'0 wing from Goose Creek #57 overall (UNC)
Asia Dozier 5'11 G from Spring Valley #88 overall (USC)
***We also signed Tiffany Mitchell 5'10 G from Charlotte #46 overall and Tiffany Davis 5'8 PG (#31PG) from TX***
    2013
Alaina Coates 6'4 post from Dutch Fork #20 overall
Kianna Holland 5'9 PG from Seneca #22 overall
Tanisha Brown 5'11 G from Myrtle Beach #54 overall (UNC commit)
    2014
A'ja Wilson 6'3 wing from Heathwood Hall #13 overall

and that's just top 100 players. Too bad this state doesn't turn out the men's bball players like that!

    Fomerly known as Garnet&BlackAttack.

  • Don't know . We haven't always had access to as much info as we have now . I remember when Nancy Wilson was canned in 1997 that she had missed out on a couple of local prospects . Teresa Geter went to Tennessee, and I remembered a girl from Heathwood Hall ranked very high then who went to Georgia. Did a little research and it was Elena Vishniakova, a 6-4 Russian exchange student who was ranked # 20 in the country . Geter came back to South Carolina for her last two years and was on our elite 8 team, and Vishniakova transferred to George Washington where she was one of the top players in their conference until she tore her acl .
Of course, UNC has pulled quite a few from this state, including Ivory Latta, Uconn got Kalana Greene and there was a girl from Dreher who went to Duke I think . Don't know much about the overall classes until recently though .

    Kianna Holland committed to Duke.

I hope all these girls who committed elsewhere weren't priorities for Dawn. She signed 4 guards this year so perhaps they weren't. She needs some help in the paint, though.

    Spurrier...I appreciate him plenty
